Acton Scott

A Luxury Camping Holiday Adventure

Swap the tiresome distractions of City life for wonderfully atmospheric safari-style tents promising a care free adventure for all. With just four luxury encampments at the heart of the estate, each begging to be explored, a stay at Acton Scott will give children a gentle introduction to rural life and the adults an opportunity to unwind and relax.

Your host is Rupert Acton who has teamed up with Feather Down Farm Days to bring their Luxury "Frills Tent" Encampments to the estate.  Each is located on its own private clearing in the tranquil setting of Hatton Wood, an ancient 20 acre plantation of native trees, with an abundance of flora and fauna. The pastures surrounding Hatton Wood are managed to encourage wildlife and afford panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

These "Frills Tent" private encampments sleeps up to six each and have the unique homespun feel that Feather Down has come to be known for. Additions to the tents include a 'Feather Down Lounger'; a veranda that adds a third of the tent’s size to its front; a private wood fired hot tub next to your tent and a private rustic gas fired shower and of course it own en suite WC. The firewood that you will use for cooking, heating and firing your hot tub is all derived from estates’ woodlands.

All tents are equipped with beautiful cooking facilities, but, if you fancy an evening off and just can't tear yourself away from Acton Scott, we have arranged for the finest local produce and prepared meals to be delivered to your encampment.

Contact our local gourmet food shop Van Doesburgs (www.vandoesburgs.co.uk) who provide a deli to your tent door service. Estate cook, Melissa Rees (www.millysmenus.com), is also on hand to cater for all tastes, budgets and occasions, email [email protected].

There's lots to do nearby. The Historic Working Farm is a ten minute walk from your encampment, where the children will enjoy meeting Tamworth piglets, watching heavy horses at work and learning about butter making. Visit the handy Acton Scott School House Cafe and enjoy lovely guided walks and cycle rides in the surrounding countryside.  Pretty market towns, such as Ludlow and Shrewsbury, are close by and well worth exploring.
